Tara Abramowicz

Tara Abramowicz (she/they) is an autistic hairstylist, Global Redken Artist, and salon inclusivity educator based in Northampton, Massachusetts. They help hairstylists and salon owners create client experiences where autistic, neurodivergent, and anxious guests feel genuinely safe — not just tolerated.

With over 20 years in the industry, Tara’s path started like many others: doing friends’ hair in kitchens, stumbling into hair school, then having a lightning-bolt moment at their first hair show — realizing that education was the heartbeat of the industry and the place they wanted to live. Discovering they were autistic and had ADHD later in life reframed everything: the way they communicated, how they read salon culture, and how they designed services for clients who struggle with noise, touch, or small talk.

Tara is the creator of the Chat-or-Chill Client Experience Card, a simple tool that lets guests wordlessly choose whether they want conversation or quiet — now used in salons around the world as part of a broader inclusivity framework. Through stage work, global education for Redken, podcasts, and salon trainings, they teach stylists how to implement silent appointments, sensory-safe setups, and clear consent-based communication without overhauling their entire business.

If you’re ready to move beyond buzzwords and actually make your salon more accessible, Tara is the coach who will meet you with honesty, humour, and practical systems you can start using with your very next client.
