DJ Muldoon

DJ Muldoon is the kind of educator hairdressers talk about in the break room years later. Based in San Diego, he’s a globally respected master cutter who helps stylists strip haircutting back to what really matters: form, function, and control.

Born in Sheffield, England and raised by two hairdressers, DJ grew up in the industry before formally starting his career at the Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica in the mid-90s. There, he absorbed the “do it until you can’t do it wrong” mentality, later creating curriculum for major brands and spending close to a decade with Paul Mitchell before stepping out as an independent educator.

In 2011 he founded theFactory in San Diego, a combined salon and education space, and built Knowledge Destroys Fear, his education brand dedicated to taking the superfluous out of haircutting. His classes and online courses focus on simplifying shapes, understanding the what/why/how/when of each cut, and using fundamental techniques to create modern shags, bobs, and layered shapes.
