Drew Schaefering
Drew Schaefering is a Brooklyn-based haircutting and styling educator who helps working stylists turn “backstage” technique into repeatable, chair-friendly shapes. Currently the Creative Director at Rob Peetoom Williamsburg, he’s built a career that moves like an ecosystem: behind the chair, on set, then back into the classroom—each lane feeding the next. He started cutting his own hair as a teenager, earned a business degree, then pivoted into cosmetology; after launching his career in St. Louis, he moved to New York to explore bigger creative worlds and began building cutting curricula and teaching workshops internationally.
In Drew’s classes, precision isn’t stiff—it’s freedom. His approach is rooted in modern layering and texture: pivoting and diagonal sectioning for clean architecture, then freehand finishing for movement that still holds its shape. His Hairbrained Live course Cutting Corners distills that philosophy into two salon-friendly haircuts (long layers and a shag-inspired mid-length) designed to work on real clients, on real schedules.
Outside education, Drew’s editorial/fashion perspective—and his work building Cruxe—keeps him grounded in craft, design, and the stylist’s lived reality. If your team wants cleaner shapes, smarter texture, and a creative process that holds up on a slammed Saturday, Drew’s an easy “yes.”
