Joseph DiMaggio, born and raised in New York City, is an internationally respected Master Session Hairstylist, creative director, and systems-based educator with over 18 years of global experience leading backstage teams at New York, Paris, Milan, and London Fashion Weeks. 

As Global Creative Artistic Director for RICA, Joseph oversees creative direction, collection development, and educational architecture for the Sicilian professional beauty brand. His leadership bridges runway artistry, product performance, and structured education—ensuring that what is created backstage translates into clear, usable systems for salons worldwide.

Before entering the beauty industry, Joseph spent several years studying engineering. This analytical foundation continues to shape his methodology today. His approach to hair is rooted in structure, sequencing, and intentional design—where every technical decision supports consistent, high-level results.

After leaving engineering to pursue a more creative path, Joseph followed his passion for music as a life long drummer. While on tour, he began cutting hair for bandmates and showgoers, ultimately discovering his true calling. He later trained under legendary session stylist Odile Gilbert, whose mentorship reinforced his belief that education is the foundation of mastery.

Joseph is recognized for integrating science with artistry in a way that makes complex concepts practical and applicable. His philosophy emphasizes internal foundations—control, balance, consistency, and intention—as the drivers of efficient, effective, and effortless performance.

Beyond fashion and education, Joseph has spent over sixteen years collaborating with international manufacturing partners involved in professional hairstyling tools. His ability to translate real-world salon and backstage performance into meaningful engineering insight positions him uniquely at the intersection of design, ergonomics, and functional product development.
