Steven Statland

Steven Statland is an Asbury Park, New Jersey salon owner and precision-cut devotee who helps stylists build haircuts that hold up—in real life, between appointments, and on clients who don’t style at home. Rooted in Vidal Sassoon philosophy (“it’s the cut that counts”), Steven teaches haircutting like a craft with rules you can feel in your hands: clean sections, intentional elevation, and shapes that look expensive even before the blowout.

His story starts in Washington, D.C., then jumps to New York City after high school—split between a music dream and a hair career—until haircutting became the louder calling. That same “never boring and never the same” energy shows up in his education work today: he’s shared technique as a national educator/artist with Hanzo and DuomoPro, bringing hands-on cutting (and even French cutting + balayage demos) into salons and classrooms.

If your team wants stronger foundations, sharper execution, and a cutting language everyone can speak, Steven’s the kind of coach who will tighten the work—without draining the artistry.
