Now this is a house I wish I lived in!<\/p>\n

Check out these photos of the amazing classic Singleton house designed by Richard Neutra in 1959.\u00a0 It is now home to the ever stylish Vidal Sassoon, his wife Ronnie and their two Shih Tzus.<\/p>\n

It hasn’t been an easy road though as the house was in serious disrepair when they purchased it, with the roof collapsing just weeks after their purchase.\u00a0 Working from photos of the original house they restored it to its former glory with a few added modern conveniences like AC for the California climate and a new bedroom wing.<\/p>\n

I had never realized how greatly Sassoon was influenced in the 50’s by modernist architecture and the Bauhaus in particular but can now totally see the parallels in his work.\u00a0 There’s a great quote from him in the article saying: \u201cArchitects have always been my heroes. My whole work, beginning in the late 1950s, came from the Bauhaus, It was all about studying the bone structure of the face, to bring out the character. I hated the prettiness that was in fashion at that time.”<\/p>\n

The indoor\/outdoor flow and use of water around the house is just stunning.<\/p>\n

The interior courtyard with a massive tree and great modern sculpture is incredible.\u00a0 I’ve always loved the classic concrete loop chairs which they use for the space.<\/div>\n
