Charlene is a sought after stylist , a wizard with colour, and keeps her skills fresh and up to date by continuing her hair education through classes and conferences.<\/p>\n

What inspired you to enter hairdressing?<\/strong>
\nMy dad, my aunt & great aunt were all hair dressers at one point in their lives, I always thought it could be a great career.<\/p>\n

What service will you never do again?<\/strong>
\nSpiral perms<\/p>\n

Who inspires you?<\/strong>
\nMy clients<\/p>\n

Favourite drink?<\/strong>
\nespresso<\/p>\n

Favourite tool & why?<\/strong>
\nMy Hai flat iron!\u00a0 It does everything!!<\/p>\n

Favourite product & or line of products & why?<\/strong>
\nGoldwell, for hair color:\u00a0 it is just the greatest<\/p>\n

Sebastion for everything else.\u00a0 They have great advertising, great products & a great price point<\/p>\n

Thing you love most about your salon?<\/strong>
\nThat it is mine (albeit with 2 partners) & that my clients generally love the calm.<\/p>\n

Worst haircut you ever had?<\/strong>
\nFunnily enough, it was done by a really groovy stylist that had just come back from Sassoon academy in London. He cut all my hair off & gave me this very shiny, sleek graduated bob.\u00a0 Looking back it was beautiful, but I was in college & more into the really long surfer girl kind of hair.<\/p>\n

Oddest thing you\u2019ve witnessed in a back room?<\/strong>

Best food joint near your salon?<\/strong>

\nMary-Behind the chair!!!!!!!!<\/p>\n

What are your thoughts on the brazilian blowout?<\/strong>
\nWell…. honestly which stylist really believed that there was a way to completely alter a persons frizzy hair for 3 months without the use of chemicals.\u00a0 Although I was still shocked that the formaldehyde content was that high.<\/p>\n

Best business tip someone told you?<\/strong>
\nNEVER put your services on sale<\/p>\n

Music you like to listen to when you cut?<\/strong>
\nAt the moment old 80’s alt rock, Band of Horses, Kings of Leon, Vampire Weekend.<\/p>\n

Tea or Coffee?<\/strong>
\nCOFFEE<\/p>\n

If you could move your salon to any city in the world where would it be?<\/strong>
\nPortland Oregon or Seattle Washington.<\/p>\n

School or Apprenticeship?<\/strong>
\nBoth, school first & then mandatory apprenticeship, like they do in Europe.<\/p>\n

Favourite thing about hair shows?<\/strong>
\nGetting to watch amazing stylists cut.<\/p>\n

Least favourite thing about hair shows?<\/strong>
\nAll the hordes of people.<\/p>\n

Best way to get rid of a problem client?<\/strong>
\nTell them that you feel that you are unable to meet their expectations & suggest another salon<\/p>\n
