The Appointment Is Finished. Your Payment Admin Should Be Too.

You finish a colour service, sweep the floor, walk your client to the counter, and take payment on a separate terminal.

Then the payment admin begins.

You type the sale into one system. You enter the card total into another. At the end of the day, you compare numbers and try to work out why one total does not match. The card went through. The work is not finished.

That is the real reason to use salonMonster Payments. It is not about owning one more card reader. It is about keeping payment connected to the appointment and sale, so checkout does not create a second round of Admin Chaos.

salonMonster uses Stripe as its secure payment-processing partner. Stripe handles the payment infrastructure and sends payouts to your bank. salonMonster connects the payment to the salon workflow you already use.

Here is what that means in a real working day.

What changes at checkout

The sale total goes straight to the terminal

With an external payment terminal, you look at the total in salonMonster and type that amount into a separate device. After the client pays, you return to salonMonster and record the external payment. That works, and salonMonster supports it. But it is still a two-system job, and two systems means two chances to get the number wrong.

With salonMonster Payments, you select Charge during checkout. salonMonster sends the sale total directly to your connected terminal. Your client pays, and the transaction stays tied to the checkout you were already completing. The salonMonster checkout guide explains both the integrated and external workflows.

One small manual step disappears. That matters when you are checking out several clients, answering the phone, cleaning your station, and trying to start the next appointment on time. It also removes the opportunity to type $176 as $167, or forget which card type you meant to record. We are not promising every mistake disappears. We are saying the system no longer asks you to copy the same total from one place to another.

Your card totals are ready when you close the register

Taking the payment is only half the job. Your records still need to make sense at the end of the day.

If you use an external processor, salonMonster asks you to enter the totals for payment types such as Visa, Mastercard, and debit when you complete a register closure. You have to pull those numbers from the other system and match them to the sales in salonMonster.

With integrated salonMonster Payments, your card totals appear automatically in the register closure. You count the cash, enter any external payments, and the integrated credit and debit totals are already there for you to review. Full steps are in the register-closure guide.

This is the part people often miss when comparing payment processors. The fee matters, but so does the work that happens after the last client leaves. A processor that sits outside your salon app may accept the card perfectly well. It can still leave you with another login, another report, another set of numbers to reconcile at 7 p.m.

You have the right payment option at checkout

Not every client pays the same way, and a connected system shouldn’t force every sale through one narrow path.

When salonMonster Payments is enabled, checkout can send a charge to the terminal, and the payment menu also includes card on file, manual card entry, cash, and salonMonster gift card options. That gives you a consistent checkout process while leaving room for however the client needs to pay, and the method is recorded with the sale instead of living only on a receipt from another device.

Your sales still appear in salonMonster reports if you use an external terminal, so switching isn’t required to keep basic records. The difference is how much manual handling sits between the sale, the card device, and the register closure.

A saved card can support the boundary you already set

A card on file is useful for more than a quick checkout. It can also support a clearly explained cancellation or no-show policy.

salonMonster lets you charge a client’s saved card from the appointment checkout. If your policy calls for a reduced no-show fee, you can adjust the service amount before processing the charge. The appointment then shows as paid, and you can send a digital receipt. The no-show charging guide covers the current steps.

The software doesn’t decide when a fee is fair, and a saved card is not automatic permission to charge it. You’re responsible for a clear policy, proper client authorization, consistent use, and the rules that apply where you do business. Used well, this feature helps you carry out a boundary you already explained, and keeps the charge connected to the client and appointment instead of turning it into a separate payment chase.

What to know before you switch

Stripe handles the sensitive infrastructure

You should know who’s handling the financial side of the system.

Stripe is salonMonster’s payment-processing partner. When you set up salonMonster Payments, salonMonster sends you to Stripe to provide your business and banking details. Those details are collected directly by Stripe and are not stored in salonMonster.

The payment system is PCI compliant, meaning it’s built to meet payment-card security standards. That doesn’t remove your responsibility to protect account access, train staff, or follow safe payment practices. It does mean you’re using infrastructure built for the job instead of a workaround.

Stripe also sends payouts directly to your bank. You can use the Stripe Dashboard to view pending and completed payouts, or adjust the payout schedule available to your account. One timing detail worth planning for: the first payout can take up to seven business days while Stripe verifies the account. After that, salonMonster’s current help guide says payouts usually reach the bank in about two business days, though weekends, holidays, bank processing, and extra verification can cause delays.

How to actually evaluate the cost

Payment processing isn’t free, and the sticker rate is only part of the comparison.

salonMonster publishes its current Canadian and United States processing rates on its payment-processing page, which is the number to check before you compare anything else. There’s no monthly payment-processing fee, but transaction fees and terminal hardware costs still apply, and rates differ by region and by how the card is accepted.

Once you have that number, weigh it against the rest of the workflow:

  • What will each type of transaction actually cost you per month, not just per swipe?
  • Is there a monthly processing fee on top of the transaction rate?
  • What hardware do you need, and what does it cost?
  • Will you be typing each total into a separate terminal, or does it flow through automatically?
  • Do card totals land in your register closure on their own, or do you reconcile them by hand?
  • Where do you check payouts and get help if something goes wrong?

The lowest-looking rate on its own isn’t automatically the simplest working day. The right choice is the one whose full cost, hardware, and process actually fit how your business runs.

An external processor is still a valid choice, and salonMonster doesn’t lock you out of it. The real question is whether the separate setup is helping your business, or quietly adding a little more admin to every single checkout.

Set it up in less than five minutes

If connected checkout sounds like the better fit, the setup itself is short:

  1. Sign in to salonMonster in a web browser. Setup does not work in the mobile app.
  2. Go to Menu → Settings → Payment processing.
  3. Select Set up payment processing.
  4. Complete the secure business and banking form on Stripe.
  5. Return to salonMonster with payment processing activated.

The current salonMonster payment setup guide says the application takes less than five minutes. Your first payout can take longer, so set up before the day you actually need the money to arrive.

Finish the appointment without starting another admin job

You became a beauty professional to do work only you can do. Not to retype card totals between two systems after closing time, or spend the last ten minutes of your day hunting for the $9 that doesn’t match.

salonMonster Payments brings checkout closer to the appointment, client, sale, and register closure. Stripe handles the payment infrastructure. salonMonster keeps the process inside a salon app built around your actual day. Not more technology on your counter, just fewer loose ends when the client walks out the door.
