Moroccan Oil
Recently there has been a renewed interest in the use of oils as hair products. Everything from Olive oil to Jojoba oil to Neem oil are being used by stylists and consumers alike. However, the most popular by far has to be Argan oil. Argan oil is extracted from the kernels of the Argan tree found exclusively in North Africa and mostly in Morocco. It is supposed to be rich in vitamin E, antioxidants, carotenes and essential fatty acids. The oil helps tames frizzy hair and soften thick course hair so there are benefits for most hair types.
The most popular brand of Argan oil has to be Moroccan Oil which, despite it’s high price point is one of the fastest growing companies within the hair industry. Moroccan Oil makes many different types of products with the magical oil and almost everyone will find something that suits them.
As well as being a great styling tool, Argan oil is ethically and sustainably harvested. According to Moroccan Oils website Argan oil is “harvested under a fair trade program which provides substantial socio-economic support to thousands of families in the Souss-Massa region of Morocco. Revenue from this project provides income to families and helps improve the working conditions of rural women. It is also used for reading, writing and management classes, as well as for modern infrastructure and technology that help make harvesting easier and more efficient, ensuring long-term management of the Argan forest.”
So go out and try out some different hair oils and see for yourself, I know I am going to!
