Interlaced Hair Necklaces
These extremely unique necklaces were created by 23 year old art student Kerry Howley who lives in London.
Taking inspiration from damask wallpaper patterns, Kerry titled her hair art piece Attraction/Aversion. Inspired by peoples aversion to cut hair, Kerry used her mother’s friend’s cut hair and spent over 60 hours working on each of the five hair necklaces.
Although the subject matter of wearing cut hair is fairly taboo, Kerry has created beautiful pieces out of something that we treasure until it’s cut off. Once cut we consider it garbage. I’m not saying I’m about to go out and wear one of these necklaces, but I do appreciate the statement she’s making.
