Avant Garde Inspiration
One of my all time favourite movies also happens to have some of the best outrageous avant garde hair styles! Edward Scissorhands still stands out today as an exceptional film filled with exceptional hair. The topiary inspired hair styles are fantastic as is Edward’s own hair style, my personal favourite.

Great customer service idea from Griffin
My brother forwarded me this great support email he received from Griffin when he was having problems with some headphones from them. It’s not often that a defective product issue ends in a positive customer experience that the customer shares with their friends. Thumbs up to Griffin for thinking creatively when it comes to product […]

Naturally ventilated salon
The Kaze Hair Studio in the Kaze Moóca Building in Sao Paulo Brazil is pretty neat. Its facade is designed as part of a controlled ventilation and passive temperature control system. It also has a great central atrium with a beautiful wall of ceramic panels by the artist Fábio Flaks. Seen at: http://www.noticiasarquitectura.info/noticiasEn/news4967.aspx And : […]

Great ceiling: Boa hairdresser’s salon
Check out this amazing ceiling at Boa hairdresser’s salon in Zurich Switzerland by Claudia Meier. It does an incredible job of evoking the feeling of hair and apparently moves with the air from the hair dryers. I love that the concept behind the renovation was to give the salon a hair cut. Check out more […]

The tradition of the stretched numbers in appointment books
I’ve often wondered why salon appointment books always use such bad stretched numbers for the hours column. For someone interested in typography and graphic design it drives me crazy. I guess it must have started as a way to keep the columns narrow to fit as much on the page as possible, but it must […]

Good Hair
If you haven’t seen it yet, I’d highly recommend watching Chris Rock’s “documentary” Good Hair. It’s a truly fascinating look into the World of black hair, relaxants and the infamous extensions. Here’s the IMDB link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1213585/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1m-4qxz08So
