Jayne Matthews
Growing up without much money, Jayne Matthews started cutting their own hair as a kid to make a fashion statement, then turned that self-taught instinct into a career behind the chair. After five years working independently, they co-opened Edo Salon & Gallery in San Francisco/Oakland in 1998 and built a reputation for free-hand razor work recognized beyond the industry. Their specialty lives in the details — cheekbone-skimming face frames, 'organic' shags, and romantic layers — now taught full-time through in-person tours, live virtual classes, and online courses.
