Beautiful Salon by Tetsuya Ito

I came across this unique beauty salon on Dezeen recently and thought I’d share it with you. Located in Omiya Japan, it was designed by Tetsuya Ito of the Tokyo firm Takara Space Design.

This 3 story salon was converted from two existing buildings (a former gallery and an old shoe repair store) into one gorgeous salon.

To create the illusion of rooms, the designers have used hanging fabric screens decorated with building facades to create these wonderful intimate spaces.

The chandelier hanging over the reception is made of fluorescent tube rings.

At the cutting stations, mirrors are hung across the printed window fabric screens to create the illusion of a real opening.

I love the use of printed fabric and whimsy that has been created in this salon, simple yet effective.
