Want a deeper dive? Here's how salonMonster stacks up.
Public product and pricing information reviewed October 3, 2026. Booksy notes that its Canadian pages are based on its US feature set and that availability in Canada may differ, so details marked US are worth confirming if you're in Canada. Read Booksy's Canada or United States pricing page.
Compare the team you have, not just the solo price
Working alone, you'd pay about the same either way. The gap opens when you bring someone on, and it keeps widening with every chair you fill.
Based on each company's published base and additional-staff prices. Payment processing, hardware, taxes, and optional Booksy Boost fees aren't included. Booksy's Canadian page says its extra-staff charge stops after 14 staff, so a very large team should compare full totals.

No marketplace, so no marketplace fee
Booksy's marketplace can put you in front of people you'd never have reached, and its optional Boost promotion takes a share of a new Boost client's first visit in return. That can be a fair trade. salonMonster simply doesn't have a marketplace, so there's nothing to opt into and no commission to keep an eye on.
Booking that lives on your website
With Booksy, clients book through your Booksy profile, its app, or buttons that lead there. salonMonster gives you a mobile-friendly booking page and a widget that sits on your own site, so someone who found you on Instagram goes from your work to your availability without a shared app in between.
Your records, whenever you want them
In salonMonster you pick what you need and download it as CSV yourself, anytime, at no charge. Booksy's US help centre has you email Support for your client list. Whichever you choose, ask up front what you can pull on your own. See how exporting works in salonMonster.
Switching from Booksy starts with getting your files
Your client list is the business you built, and it should come with you. Booksy supplies it through Support, so the first step is an email, and the rest we'll do together.
1
Ask Booksy for everything
Request your client list, and ask about upcoming appointments, history, services, products, notes, photos, gift cards, and memberships while you're at it. Keep your Booksy account open until the files arrive.
2
We look at what you got
Send the files over through our secure process. We'll tell you exactly what can move into salonMonster before we call the move done, so there are no surprises later.
3
Walk through it with a real person
We'll go over your clients, services, upcoming bookings, team access, and booking rules together. Once it all looks right, that's the moment to cancel Booksy.
Frequently asked questions
Is salonMonster cheaper than Booksy?
For one person, the two are nearly the same price. salonMonster gets less expensive as you add people: each extra staff member who takes appointments is $15 a month and the subscription stops climbing at $120, while Booksy adds $20 for each extra user. Your real total also depends on taxes, payment processing, hardware, and whether you’d use Booksy’s optional Boost.
Does Booksy charge a commission on every booking?
No. Booksy says there is no booking commission unless you turn on Boost, which is optional. With Boost on, its US pages list a fee of 30% of a new Boost client’s first visit, with a $10 minimum and a $100 maximum. Later visits from that client carry no commission.
Is Booksy Boost mandatory?
No. Booksy describes Boost as optional, and a standard marketplace listing is included without it.
Do Booksy and salonMonster have contracts?
Neither one locks you into a long-term contract. Booksy’s US pricing page says you can cancel anytime, and its help centre asks you to email Support to do it. salonMonster lets you change or cancel with no cancellation fee.
Which one has the better free trial?
They’re even on Booksy’s US page: 14 days, no credit card, same as salonMonster. Booksy’s Canadian pricing page offers a free trial without saying how long it runs, so it’s worth confirming before you sign up in Canada.
Can I export my Booksy clients?
Yes. Booksy’s US help centre says to contact Support for a client list with contact details. Ask at the same time about appointments, services, products, notes, photos, reviews, gift cards, memberships, and transaction history, so you know what you’ll receive.
Can salonMonster move everything from Booksy?
It depends on the files Booksy gives you. Send them over and we’ll tell you exactly what can move before you cancel anything.
Is Booksy available in Canada?
Yes. Booksy has Canadian marketplace and business pages. Its Canadian business page also says the information there is based on the US feature set and that availability in Canada may differ, so confirm the trial, Boost, payments, and messaging details with Booksy directly.
Which has lower payment-processing rates?
In the United States, Booksy’s card reader is listed at 2.49% + $0.10, a little lower than salonMonster’s 2.6% + $0.10 card-present rate. Other transaction types don’t line up one to one. salonMonster publishes both its Canadian and US rates, and integrated processing is optional: you can also record cash or payments taken on your own terminal.
