The real difference: a marketplace in beta, or software built for your salon

Built around the chair

Bookuply serves salons, studios, and a wide range of other service businesses. salonMonster is made by hairdressers, for the way a salon day already runs. Book a cut into the gap while a colour processes, approve online booking requests before they land in your book, and keep formulas on the client record.

A price you can plan around

Bookuply is free during its beta, and says it will email you ahead of time and ask you to pick a plan when the beta ends. salonMonster's price is published and the same every month, with the everyday salon tools included on every plan.

Booking under your own name

Bookuply lists your business in its marketplace alongside others. salonMonster has no marketplace. Clients book on your own booking page or a widget on your website, so your business stays front and centre.

Switching from Bookuply: get your records first, then cancel

Your client list is the business you built, and it should come with you. Bookuply's privacy policy says to ask its support team for a copy of your data. Start there and we'll do the rest together.

1

Ask for your records

Ask Bookuply's support team for your clients, upcoming appointments, services, and notes. Keep your account open while you do.

2

We look at what you got

Send the files over through our secure process. We'll tell you exactly what can move into salonMonster before we call the move done, so there are no surprises later.

3

Walk through it with a real person

We'll go over your clients, services, upcoming bookings, team access, and booking rules together. Once it all looks right, that's the moment to cancel Bookuply.

Frequently asked questions

Is Bookuply free?

Bookuply is free while it’s in beta. Its pricing page also lists the plans for afterwards: a free plan limited to three services, an Independent plan, and a Team plan priced per member. Bookuply says beta users will be emailed ahead of time and asked to choose a plan to continue. salonMonster’s trial is 14 days of the full system with no card, and the price after that is published.

Which costs less, salonMonster or Bookuply?

salonMonster is $30 a month for one person with every salon tool included, plus $15 for each additional person with a calendar, up to $120. Bookuply is free during its beta, and its listed plans for afterwards run from a limited free plan to $19.95 a month per team member, in Canadian dollars. Team size and the plan you’d need both change the total, so compare the setup you would really use.

Does Bookuply have a marketplace?

Yes. Bookuply publishes business profiles in a consumer marketplace and gives you a shareable profile link. salonMonster keeps booking between you and your clients: they book through your own booking page or a widget on your website, not a marketplace.

Can I export my data from Bookuply?

Bookuply’s privacy policy says you can ask its support team for a copy of your data. Ask for everything you rely on before you close your account. With salonMonster, your data belongs to you and exports to CSV from one place, anytime.

Can salonMonster move everything from Bookuply?

It depends on the files you’re able to get out. Send them over and we’ll tell you exactly what can move before you cancel anything.

Which one has better migration help?

Both offer free help moving in. With salonMonster, a real person looks at your files, moves what can be moved, and walks through the new account with you before you close the old one.
